Hyland Cyclery History

Our shops history starts in 1942 when an eager Frank Goodman was released from his job as a predator animal trapper. In order to put bread and butter on his family's table he decided to put his skills to work in a do-it-all-mend-it shop. He did everything from painting and building bicycles to fixing toasters and lawn mowers.

When the 10 speed bike boom hit in the 1960's Frank's son Wayne, along with his wife Jeanene were there to pounce. They turned Frank's Mend-It Shop into one of the premier Schwinn dealers in the whole country. They had multiple Hyland Schwinn Cyclery locations and were featured as Schwinn's "Total Concept Dealer". Back then they sold too many Sting-Ray's and 10 speeds to count.

The present day Hyland Cyclery is still owned and operated by the Goodman family. We constantly strive to be the best bike shop in Salt Lake City. We want people to enjoy the great benefits of a cycling lifestyle. Whether you're a new face or you grew up coming into our store.

We've come a long way since the days of Frank's Mend-It Shop. We have had many loyal customers over the 65 years we've been in business. Because of them we are ready to keep our doors open another 100 years.
